Sexual Adventurism and the Young Men of Today

Statistics from credible sources prove that between two and ten percent of reported rape are false.

The fact that up to 10% of all reported rapes are false is not an insignificant number to the youngsters who are among those 10%.

Reasonable people might put these numbers in perspective this way.

If 2% to 10% of the inmates on death row were innocent when they will put to death society probably would not be so cavalier and dismissive about throwing that number around (unless a member of the base of Donald J Trump of course).

And that aside.

We’re not just talking about rape when we are talking about the danger of alledged predatory women making false reports of a sexual nature.
We are talking the whole range of accusations of a sexual nature that can destroy a person’s life.

Brett Kavanaugh was never accused of rape for example but had he not been a man of influence, had he been Joe Lunch Bucket, the charge of attempted rape without evidence would have been enough to ruin his life even if he never saw the inside of a court of law.

Those who discount the reality that false charges exist in such numbers are comfortable with trading the lives of a certain number of young men if it means the realization of a larger goal.

We see this same concept in military adventurism.

Military leaders routinely accept the fact that a certain number of warriors and civilians are going to die in order to realize military objectives both large and small.

I believe the term is “collateral damage”.

Maybe that’s fine in the military but is it necessary in civilian life to sacrifice a percentage of our youngsters for the “greater good”?

Maybe Society will ultimately accept that ruining the lives of up to 10% of our young men is fair compensation for a system where charges of sexual inappropriateness require no evidence before we find the individual guilty.

Society may make that judgement reasonable people may say it’s not necessary to ruin those lives at all.

Reasonable people may say we CAN punish the guilty AND agree that does not preclude young men from taking the reasonable precautions necessary to protect themselves from the false charges that credible sources claim are generated by anywhere from 2% to 10% of the female population bringing those charges.

What the men and women of reason would say is that we should teach our youth to vet the people (male or female) they allow into their lives and/or interact with in a potentially explosive sexual situation.

Prior to the easy availability of birth control and abortion our young people were taught by loving parents to look beyond their hormones and to be proactive what it came to protecting themselves from individuals that had the potential to be a destructive force in their lives.

It was an easy lesson to teach back then since unwanted pregnancies with life destroying effects would be the price of failure.

It is not so easy today when there is no longer the stigma nor condemnation to having children out of wedlock nor to terminating a pregnancy should should the baby be unwanted.
But it is a lesson that can still be taught.

If young men were taught to choose the people in their lives carefully, let their heads and not their hormones rule their actions when interacting with the opposite sex and to document their interactions to the extent that technology and Common Sense allows then both young men and young women can live their lives to a ripe old age and never fear that false charges from their past will bring the sounds of Jack Boots on their doorstep.

Kavanaugh Beyond Scotus

Storm Clouds over the Nation
The Storm Approaches (photographed by Jack Rusak)

Now that two  women are making accusations of sexual misdeeds against Brett Kavanaugh credible observers would say an investigation by the FBI would be entirely appropriate.

But there is a wrinkle no one is talking about.

If Kavanaugh is found guilty then clearly the man is not qualified to sit on any bench and therefore must relinquish his current position.

And since there is no statute of limitations on sexual abuse in Maryland, it would be entirely proper that Kavanaugh be prosecuted in a court of law and if found guilty be added to the national sex offender hot list.

On the other hand if Kavanaugh is cleared by the FBI investigation that would mean his two accusers clearly lied and the legal penalties should swift and just.
If either accuser is employed in a position where public trust is a requirement, then clearly the person’s employer would be duty bound to reevaluate.

Justice also demands they also be subject to appropriate legal remedies related to  defamation of character and whatever damage it can be proved that they caused to Kavanaugh’s reputation and future and the mental health of his family.

Whichever way this goes any lack of follow-up when it comes to legal consequences  would be a slap in the face to the credibility of the #MeToo movement and an insult to all the peoples of the United States of America who believe in due process of law.

This is a discussion America needs to have and it needs to start now.

The dumbest of the GOP seems to want to insist that Kavanaugh is guilty.

A storm it is a’ coming

The Approaching Storm (photo by Jack Rusak)

It be amazing how many people in the GOP (both men and women) seem to have a death wish when it comes to this Kavanaugh nomination.

We are seeing on almost a daily basis one or more party members come out and effectively convict the nominee of attempted rape by justifying what Kavanaugh has alleged to have done as perfectly normal activity for teenage boys across the country.

Clearly these people are off message and doing great damage to Brett Kavanaugh and his reputation because they are in effect admitting that they themselves believe he is guilty of attempted rape as charged.

As the old saying goes “friends like that, you don’t need enemies”.

The fact is at this point in time there is no evidence that the charges brought by this woman against Brett Kavanaugh have any basis.

All we have is the say so without collaboration of a single individual. Even the people who have been named as Witnesses have either walked back their statements supporting the charges or denied the incident ever happened.

Given the reality of the situation only the most tender minded brain donor will adopt the tactic that we are seeing presented by so many right-wing American politicians today.

The better program would simply be to stick to the facts, and let the lack of evidence speak for itself.

Of course that is not without risk.

All the Accuser has to do is made public the transcripts of her therapy sessions where she claims to have named Brett Kavanaugh as a sex offender before he became a household name.

While not evidence that would stand up in a court of law most likely it would be sufficient in the court of public opinion and convince all unbiased and honorable citizens of the United States of America that the nominee is indeed guilty of the charges brought against him.

But this Observer would be very surprised if the woman did that.

However this plays out it is supreme idiocy by the right-wing community to continue to try to justify attempted rape on the basis that all young men are guilty and that it is commonplace and acceptable in our society.

Sexual disrespect of women might be of course be acceptable in the more hardcore population of those of the Donald Trump persuasion today but that is hardly the majority or even a significant minority of the American citizenry and it is a tactical mistake of the highest order to imply otherwise.

The MeToo movement is in danger of jumping the shark

The Voice of Reason (photo by Jack Rusak)
According to their social media pages, this is what the liberal community would have us believe
“All we need to know is that the dude is white, the dude is male, the dude is a conservative and a female made the accusation of sexual abuse.
It does not matter if Kavanaugh is guilty or not, it is incumbent upon Society to send a message that white males of a certain age will not be tolerated in political or for that matter public life.
That message must be sent loud and clear”.

Of course those marching orders only apply to men in public life of a conservative nature.

We all heard for example how the members of the liberal community today are all demanding we give Al Franken a pass for his sexual appetites.

And then we have that attorney general candidate from a certain state who happens to be a mover and shaker in the DNC and the movement remains strangely silent about him even though he is accused of doing something akin to what Kavanaugh is accused of and in his case some say, unlike the SCOTUS nominee, there might be evidence that dude actually committed the crime.

That kind of obvious double standard and hypocrisy would not help ANY social movement impress fair minded people.

Of course so far this campaign has been very effective when it comes to filling the tent with the “true believers” but the danger for MeToo is that sooner or later they may go an accusation too far and the reasonable and decent people of America may start to see the movement as one without credibility or honor as we have seen happen to so many movements so many times before.

Dianne Feinstein has got them by the balls and Donald J. Trump knows it

Dianne knows the tactic of delaying the vote on Judge Kavanaugh will be the salvation of America and all it stands for.

Her battle plan is clearly to draw this out as long as possible, hopefully beyond  the midterms.

It would be a tactical error for the woman to testify now especially since it may ultimately turn out that Kavanaugh was innocent of her  charges.

After all, Kavanaugh’s accuser has presented no evidence to back her play and reasonable observers can surmise  she has none to present.

Of course what that the GOP SHOULD do in my estimation is to simply give the woman her hearing, listen politely to what she has to say,  let her have her time in the spotlight and get on with the damn vote.

But their blood is up and these tired old men will not do that, as correct as it might be from a tactical stand-point.

Right now Dianne Feinstein and the woman are playing this exactly right and they are playing it brilliantly.
